Tasting Notes: Hazelnut, Caramel, Chocolate Acidity: Medium Body: Medium The story of Turkish coffee goes back to a shepherd named Khaldi in the 900s AD. Khaldi was a shepherd in the Oromo tribe in Abyssinia (present-day Ethiopia), and his job was to take the tribe's goats out to graze. Legend has it that Khaldi would wander around, searching for a safe place to graze the goats, and when he found one, he would take a short nap. He also had a penchant for finding different places each time. One day, he set out with the herd again. After wandering around for a while, he found a grazing area for the goats and a cool, shady spot under a tree for himself. When he woke up, what did he see? The goats were running around frantically, jumping and leaping from side to side. But this wasn't just any kind of activity. Khaldi had never seen such action before. He wondered what was happening and realized the goats were eating small berries from a small tree. Without even thinking about what they tasted like, he grabbed one and ate it, then a few more. After some time, he began to feel much better and understood why the goats were behaving this way. He thought there must be something special about these berries, so he gathered some and returned to the tribe. After eating some, the tribe members thought they could take some with them when they went hunting, and so they began collecting and storing the coffee cherries. One day, a fire broke out in the tent where the coffee cherries were kept. The fire was extinguished, but the smell of the remaining cherries filled the whole place. While this irresistible aroma captivated them, the women of the tribe wondered if they could make a soup from it. They took the beans, crushed them into powder with stones, and boiled them in a cauldron. The taste they experienced when they drank it enchanted them even more, and thus the first coffee was created. Of course, considering how much of the tribal history was based on written documents in the 900s AD, we see that this story contains a mixture of reality and fantasy. Either way, coffee is a very delicious drink. More information: Over time, the Khaldi and Oromo tribes spread this delicious drink to neighboring tribes. Somali merchants, aware of the situation, began trading coffee. Of course, Yemen, the largest trading center of the time, became one of the first markets for coffee. Over time, coffee spread to the Arabian Peninsula, and with the campaigns of Yavuz Sultan Selim in the Arabian Peninsula and North Africa, it reached the Ottoman soldiers. First introduced to the palace in the 1540s during the reign of Suleiman the Magnificent, coffee was quite popular. After being consumed only within the palace for about 10 years, Sultan Suleiman said, "My people should not be deprived of such a delicious treat," and the first coffeehouse opened in istanbul in 1551. The people liked coffee so much that the coffeehouses became overcrowded. Coffee, ground in stone mills at that time, became a part of the country's culture. in fact, the word "breakfast" entered our lives because people, simply to avoid drinking coffee on an empty stomach, would say, "Let me have something to eat under my coffee." in 1683, coffee reached the gates of Vienna thanks to Mehmed iV, a great coffee enthusiast. When the long siege failed, sacks of coffee were left at the gates of Vienna to reduce the load. Viennese soldiers who found these sacks, and those among them who learned how to roast and brew coffee, carried this "booty" first to the palace and then to other European countries. Because coffee entered Europe with the Turks, the name of this brewing method remained Turkish coffee. Although Europeans later developed other brewing methods, the Ottomans always preferred Turkish coffee. in fact, when people couldn't find coffee, they roasted chickpeas, pistachios, lentils, whatever they could find, and made coffee with them. This later led to the emergence of different types of coffee, such as Ottoman Coffee, Melengic Coffee, and mastic-flavored coffee. Until the 1930s, coffee coming from Yemen became difficult to import due to power struggles and civil war in Yemen. A coffee shortage began in the early years of the Republic. During this period, by order of Ataturk, coffee imports from Brazil, which already had a surplus in production, began, and since then, Turkish coffee has been made with coffee from Brazil. How to Drink / Brewing Method: As a measure, add 6g of coffee to 65ml of hot water. The water temperature should be between 65-70 degrees Celsius. Optionally, you can add two teaspoons of granulated sugar for a medium-sweet coffee. Before placing it on the stove, stir it with a teaspoon until all the particles are evenly distributed. Let the coffee cook over medium heat without touching it. As the heat increases, you will see a dark color starting to dominate the surface from bottom to top. When the surface is covered with this dark color, lift the coffee pot up for a second to remove it from the heat. Then put it back on the heat and, as soon as it starts to bubble, pour the coffee into the cup without letting it foam. | Filter Type Turkish Coffee | Variety Ground Coffee | Coffee Region Brazil | Set Quantity 5 | Molybdenum (µg) %BRD 100% | Form Package | Set / individual Set Product | Trans Fat (g) %RA 0.06% | Trans Fat (g) 0.06 gr | Origin BR - (Brazil) | ingredients Caffeinated | Manganese (mg) %BRD 0.04% | Weight 500 gr | Fluoride (mg) %BRD 0 | Allergen Warnings Caffeine | Caffeine Content 15 mg | Polyunsaturated Fat (g) %RA 3.7% | Package Quantity 5 Pieces | Flavor Balanced | Grind Type Whole Bean Coffee | Aroma Caramel | Coffee Roasting Level Medium
