The main ingredient of Pistacia Perebinthus coffee is the pistachio tree, a member of the Pistacia family, which grows wild in the high altitudes of Southeastern Anatolia, Central Anatolia, and the Mediterranean region of Turkey. Known in Latin as Pictacia Perebinthus, and called by various names depending on the region, this plant grows slowly and can reach a maximum height of 10 meters. Although it grows in all soil types, it yields the best results in dry and soft soil.
Pistacia perebinthus flowers red and turns a bluish/purple color when mature. The mature pistachios are harvested, washed, and then dried. After drying, they are roasted until they turn a dark brown color, just like coffee. After roasting regular coffee beans, the roasted berries are crushed until they reach a paste-like consistency. The resulting oily and granular paste is called menengic Coffee.
Unlike other coffees, menengic coffee does not contain caffeine. Because it is completely natural, its benefits are countless. it is good for shortness of breath, vocal cords, respiratory tract, stomach, and kidney stones. it also has an aphrodisiac effect. it contains protein, fiber, fat, phosphorus, calcium, iron, potassium, vitamin A, vitamin B1, vitamin B2, vitamin B6, vitamin C, and vitamin E. it has no known side effects. As with everything, it's beneficial to consume this beverage in moderation.
Unlike Turkish coffee, menengic coffee is more soothing to the stomach and aids digestion.
Pistacia Perebinthus is brewed in a cezve (a traditional Turkish coffee pot) over low heat, just like Turkish coffee. Two teaspoons of terebinth coffee per cup, one cup of milk, and sugar to taste are added. it is boiled for two minutes while stirring constantly. Served with nuts and water.
