As a result of the capitulations that began in the 1500s, ambassadors who came to the country were granted the right to trade within the Ottoman borders, thus spreading the fame of the carpets beyond the borders. Noble families in Europe commissioned famous painters to create paintings featuring the carpets, and the carpets in these paintings were named after the painters. Usak carpets, which gained great importance during the reign of Suleiman the Magnificent, began to be woven in a new style by weaving masters brought from Azerbaijan. To prevent the carpets' originality from being compromised, Anatolian muftis were appointed and the weaving was brought under control. Over time, the diversifying patterns were redesigned by painters and decorative artists, and the carpets acquired the name "palace carpet." Usak carpets, frequently used in Ottoman palaces, various castles in Europe, mosques, and churches, became more than just a carpet; they were a symbol of prestige. In the 2000s, a special effort was undertaken to revive the former glory of Usak carpets, both a part of our cultural heritage and a work of art that has proven itself to the world. Usak carpets, which have left their mark on the pages of art history, derive their sturdy structure and beautiful appearance from pure wool yarn and organic root dyes. Historical Usak carpets that have survived to this day are exhibited as historical artifacts in many important museums in Europe and Turkey.
